F. Y. C. - For Your Consideration 8th Month, 30th Day, 2009

· From the Pastor’s Desk ·
Thank you for choosing to attend Union Friends Church today. Hope you enjoy the service and return this evening to worship with us again.

How is your prayer life? Not how old is it (how many years have you been praying), not how long do you pray every day, not how loudly (or softly) do you pray? No, how IS your prayer life. Would you describe your prayer life as (a) robust – be careful God knows us all – (b) poor – there is a lot to be said for humility, (c) somewhere in between?

Allow me to urge your heart (and mine) to seek a refreshing in prayer. Does praying seem more or (heaven forbid) less important than it did in the fall of ’08? Has your prayer life taken on a depth or become more shallow? Do you seek God for more spiritual blessings and insights than you used to? Or are you still spending a high percentage of your prayer energy on physical or financial needs?

It is important that family members talk. When family members stop talking there is trouble. That trouble is now and that trouble can become worse in the immediate future. You cannot afford to stop talking to God. Please – this morning – ask Him to increase your desire to be alone with Him and then help Him, as He helps you. Purposely find a place to be and then purposely BE alone with God. Learn how to pray.

Lord willing we meet again this mid-week to testify, pray, and study the Ageless Book – please join us, Wednesday at 7:00! ~ Pastor Bryan
